It’s the last month of 2020 and Foxtel’s bringing in their A-game with the lineup of shows and movies to watch for December.

Unarguably, this has not been the best year for anyone but we shouldn’t let that fact stop us from having a good time from time to time. That said, we’ve handpicked these new shows dropping in December that you would surely love watching. Check them all out as they air throughout this last month of 2020 only on Foxtel.

Best New Drama Series

The Third Day

Starring Jude Law and Naomie Harris, The Third Day is a dark and intriguing six-part limited series that goes into the unnerving story of a British island clouted by mythology, which then ensnares two mainlanders. The series is divided into 2 parts: “Summer,” which sees Sam (Law) rescuing a troubled young girl and then accompanies her home to the otherworldly and mysterious Osea Island. The second part is “Winter,” which follows Helen (Harris), a strong-willed outsider who arrives on the same island on the hunt for answers.

All of the six episodes of The Third Day will drop on FOX SHOWCASE on December 7.

Small Axe

Steve McQueen’s anthology is also coming to Foxtel in December. It consists of five movies-turned-episodes, each of which narrates a powerful story of London’s West Indian community, whose lives were shaped by the power of their will amidst immense racism and discrimination within the society.

Small Axe will drop on December 19 on Foxtel.

The first episode of I May Destroy You will premiere on FOX SHOWCASE on December 4.

Best Returning Series

Euphoria

Euphoria will return for a special two-part episode extension of season 1, which would serve as a bridge going into the second season. Not a lot has been said about what the plot of these episodes would revolve around, but just getting a dose of this award-winning series should be more than enough to tide fans over the delay of season 2.

The two-part special of Euphoria will drop on FOX SHOWCASE on December 7.

The Disappearance of Margaret Fleming

Margaret Fleming was a vulnerable adult who was thought to be under the full-time care of Edward Cairney and Avril Jones. They were said to be living in a remote coastal property in Scotland. It wasn’t until police grew suspicious and asked about Margaret’s whereabouts where it was exposed that she had been missing for 16 years, with Cairney and Jones accused of killing her and claiming her benefits in her name. This doco sheds a light in bringing the two suspects to trial, as well as the work that goes into defending them.

The Disappearance of Margaret Fleming drops on December 12 on Foxtel.

Baby God

Nevada physician, Dr. Quincy Fortier, has been the go-to doctor of many women for gynecological and obstetric care. He has gained a reputation for being able to help women get pregnant where other doctors have failed. The catch? He’s managed to do this by injecting the women with his own sperm without their consent or knowledge. This documentary focuses on the lives of the children he has fathered and the innocent women who are trying to come to terms with the real father of their kids.

Baby God drops on December 9 on Foxtel.

Where to Watch S.W.A.T. Season 4 Online in Australia

Season 4 of the hit show S.W.A.T. promises not only to be action-packed but also highly emotionally charged as the show delves into relevant current issues in society.

It’s going to be one hell of an emotionally-charged season as S.W.A.T. tackles highly current societal issues, namely the Black Lives Matter movement. After being given much praise for the diversity present in the show, it will now shed light on an important matter that would involve Hondo (Shemar Moore) and his father, Daniel Sr. (Obba Babatundé).

Tune in to the season 4 premiere of S.W.A.T. on Sunday, December 13 on FOX ONE.

What is S.W.A.T. Season 4 about?

The whole Black Lives Matter episode centers around father and son and will see them confront Los Angeles’ history of racial tension between the police and the Black community. This will also involve flashbacks of the city back in 1992 following the Rodney King verdict.

Other parts of the season premiere will also feature the S.W.A.T. team pursuing El Diablo’s scattered drug cartel hiding in the city. This picks up from one of the storylines from last season’s finale.

Who stars in S.W.A.T. Season 4?

In addition to Shemar Moore and Obba Babatundé, other cast members who will be in this season includes Bre Blair as Annie Kay, Deshae Frost as Darryl, Rochelle Aytes as Nichelle, Susan Chuang as Chan Fei, Chris L. McKenna as DEA Agent Simmons, and David Gautreaux as Edward Yannick.

Is S.W.A.T. Season 4 any good?

It’s already common knowledge that S.W.A.T.’s not your regular police drama. Seeing how they’re upping the ante this season and pushing the boundaries of storylines by tackling sensitive societal issues, we think it’s safe to say that it’s bound to be a really good season ahead.

Where to Watch I May Destroy You Online in Australia

Dubbed as one of the year’s best shows, I May Destroy You is a brave take on sexual assault and stars one of the hottest names in theatre and TV right now.

I May Destroy You is a biting, brave, yet cathartic take on a story about sexual assault. It’s raw and not romanticised at all, untangling the trauma of that experience with some dark humour and stellar acting by Michaela Coel.

This new original series from BBC One and HBO will premiere on December 4th on FOX SHOWCASE. This new series has 12 episodes, which will also be made available through BINGE.

What is I May Destroy You about?

Arabella is a Twitter-personality-turned-novelist who found fame with her debut book, Chronicles of a Fed-Up Millennial. She became a celebrated Millennial icon and have since been focusing on continuing her success as a writer. In the middle of finishing up her second book, she takes a break to meet up with friends for a night out in London. She wakes up the next morning struggling to remember what happened to her, but slowly recalls the events of the night and unraveling the trauma she endured after her drink was spiked.

Who stars in I May Destroy You?

Joining lead Michaela Coel as Arabella is a stellar lineup of cast including Weruche Opia as Terry and Paapa Essiedu as Kwame, both of whom play Arabella’s good friends. Supporting cast members include Stephen Wight as Ben, Arabella’s flatmate, Adam James as Julian, Arabella’s literary agent, Natalie Walter as Francine, Arabella’s financier, Marouane Zottie as Biagio, and many more.

Is I May Destroy You any good?

Even before its premiere on HBO, I May Destroy You was already predicted to become a critics’ favourite — and true enough, it became exactly that and more. A critic for The New York Times praised the show for being “touching and quietly hilarious,” and gives due recognition to the show’s lead and co-writer, Michaela Coel.

It’s a clever take on such a sensitive issue, which surely not everyone can appreciate. But if you do jump in, we’re 99.9% sure that you’re bound to appreciate the amazing acting, storytelling, and deeper understanding of important issues that this modern-day show offers.

Where to Watch 30 for 30: Chasing Tyson online in Australia

ESPN’s 30 for 30 documentary on Mike Tyson is available to stream on Kayo Sports just in time for his grand comeback on November 29.

Who can ever forget about that historic fight between Evander Holyfield and Mike Tyson back in 1996? Way before that match, Mike Tyson was already known to own the heavyweight division, casting a commanding shadow over boxing during the 80s and 90s. Evander Holyfield, on the other hand, was patiently waiting for his chance to earn that worldwide respect, which he knew he could never get until he defeated Tyson.

When the night of the match finally came, all eyes were on these legendary fighters as they met head on. Viewers witnessed not just one, but two of the sport’s most memorable fights. This is what ESPN’s 30 for 30: Chasing Tyson is all about.

What is Chasing Tyson about?

Evander Holyfield knew that it’s not in how he lost and recaptured the heavyweight crown that would define his boxing career, but in how he will stand up against Mike Tyson. 30 for 30: Chasing Tyson explores the years that Holyfield spent “chasing” after Tyson and arranging their first ever match. This documentary would also show how the fight turned out, making an indelible mark in the history of sports because of the two most memorable fights ever — but for very different reasons.
