New Series: Cobra

This six-part series written by Ben Richards tells the story of an all quite literal political storm. A team comprised of Britain’s leading experts, crisis contingency planners, and some of the most senior politicians create COBRA, a committee meant to protect the people of Great Britain in times of national emergency. This series goes through the eye of the storm as Prime Minister Robert Sutherland (played by Robert Carlyle) and his Chief of Staff, Anna Marshall (Victoria Hamilton) are forced to contend with impossible political decisions amidst their immensely pressured personal lives.

Cobra premiered last November 11. Catch continuing new episodes every Wednesday at 8:30pm on BBC First.

Below Deck season 8 returned last November 3rd with continuing new episodes every Tuesday at 1:30pm on FOX ARENA.

Top Documentary: Crazy, Not Insane

Here’s a new documentary series for all of you true crime junkies. A returning favourite reality-competition show is the Great British Menu. Now on its 15th season, this series sees four new chefs competing for the top spot as they represent the best culinary treasures from England’s central belt. This season gets a bit more exciting with new twists like having an extra chef to beat and a competitor leaving during the heats. The winning chef will be awarded a place at a banquet celebrating children’s literature.

How to Watch or Stream ‘Sex Cult’ Doco-Series The Vow

In case you haven’t heard, there’s a modern-day sex cult founded in the late 90s that unraveled in recent years with the founder and his close associate arrested and indicted on federal charges for sex trafficking plus other crimes. This sex cult is better known as NXIVM (pronounced as ‘Nexium’), headed by Keith Raniere and is based in the suburbs of Albany, New York.

Due to the shocking revelations that unfolded thanks to a whistleblower, not to mention the many big names associated with it (including ‘Smallville’ actress Allison Mack), NXIVM was thrown into the forefront of it all making headlines in the news. With ‘The Vow,’ HBO is giving people a closer look at what really went behind closed doors in this self-proclaimed American multi-level marketing company.

This nine-part doco-series mainly features interviews of former members Mark Vicente, Sarah Edmondson, and Bonnie Piesse — all of whom were avid supporters and believers of Raniere before they came to the realisation that not all is right in this “company.” It’s an intriguing, shocking, and unnerving look at this sex cult as they begin with how it all started and how it all came crashing down as revelations just kept getting worse and worse.

HBO has renewed The Vow for a second season, which is said to focus on Raniere’s trial, sentencing, and a more in-depth look at his inner circle and supporters. NXIVM co-founder Nancy Salzman and ongoing NXIVM supporter Nikki Clyne will appear in the second season, alongside federal prosecutor Moira Kim Penza.

How to Watch or Stream Atlanta’s Missing and Murdered: The Lost Children

Shedding a light on one of the most prolific serial crimes in US history, Atalanta’s Missing and Murdered: The Lost Children delivers an unprecedented look at the abduction and murder of at least 30 African-American children and young adults between 1979 and 1981 in Atlanta, Georgia. It’s a five-part doco-series that also dives in deep the the controversy that surrounds this case even up to this day.

It all begins as this doco tracks the initial disappearances and discoveries of two teenage boys who were murdered, as well as the gripping fear that followed, and the ultimate indictment of Wayne Williams, who was found guilty of murdering two adults and was linked to the murders of at least 10 children. Much of the controversy that followed circles around the fact that most of the murdered children’s cases were closed and attributed to Williams without ever undergoing proper trial.

Atlanta’s Missing and Murdered will feature never-before-seen footage, interviews, and court documents, as it tries to bring new evidence to light that would raise new questions related to the racial tensions and political clashes that arose in Atlanta during this tragedy. This doco would also touch upon alternate suspects, plus detailed information about the biases and unexplored possible leads that have tainted the original investigation.

Where to Watch or Stream Atlanta’s Missing and Murdered: The Lost Children

BINGE is the only place where you can stream this five-part documentary series from HBO. You can get instant access to all five episodes when this doco drops come November 23rd once you subscribe to BINGE’s 14-day free trial.

The show made the career of the late James Gandolfini, who became a household name. He was supported by an equally capable cast, including Lorraine Bracco (Goodfellas) and Edie Falco (Nurse Jackie).
