Undefeated champion Tim Tszyu will defend his title against Toowoomba fighter Stevie Spark in a welterweight showdown happening Wednesday, 7 July at 7 pm AEST. Vying for the Commonwealth title, Tszyu and Spark have made the match-up official after they hit the scales today.
Tszyu had been getting ready to face Michael Zerafa before the Victorian-based boxer pulled out of the fight citing pandemic travel safety concerns. Stepping in on late notice is Spark, who made headlines last April after defeating Jack Brubaker on the Paul Gallen-Lucas Browne undercard. With a boxing career spent on super lightweight, Spark’s fight with Tszyu will see him jump up to super welterweight.
Tszyu, meanwhile, hopes the upcoming event to be his last local opponent before embarking on international matches. Will the undefeated superstar defend his title or will the up-and-coming fighter who’s attracting fight fans with his Rocky narrative cause one of the biggest boilovers in Australian boxing history? Don’t miss the Tim Tszyu v Stevie Spark match on Wednesday night to find out.
