Essendon History and 2021 Preview
For a team nicknamed the Bombers, Essendon have been misfiring much of late. A heritage team, Essendon owes its fans a lot more than the mid-table finishes they have been generating. And those fans also expect a lot more in 2021.
Having not won the Finals since 2004, the Bombers have their work cut out this term. The first step will be to get over the horror season they endured in 2021.
Coach Ben Rutten has a talented core of players. His mission will be to ignite their potential and take them back to the top half of the table, and hopefully into the playoffs.
The new players – Jye Clydwell, Nick Hind, and Peter Wright – will bring a new sense of focus and determination to the team. Essendon will need the mix of youth and experience to progress to the top half of the table.
