What is The End about?
The End is a dark comedy series, which follows the lives of Dr. Kate Brennan (Frances O’Connor), a specialist in palliative care based on the Gold Coast. She is very passionate in her opposition of euthanasia while on the other hand, her mother Edie Henley (Harriet Walter) feels just as strongly about her right to die on her own terms.
When Kate discovers who Mother wants to take her own life, she decides to bring her closer to the family, which is Edie’s worst nightmare. As Kate continues to struggle with her own problems and her mum’s situation, she also deals with her ex being in jail and her children, one of which is struggling with a perception of gender. The End is a story about family, ethics, and emotion, and how it’s never too late to start again.
