DC Comics’ popular post-apocalyptic series is finally getting adapted for television. News of its development came out in 2015 and by 2019, the production had received a series order for a first season with FX giving the greenlight. What is the Y: The Last Man about?
Y: The Last Man begins with a mysterious cataclysmic event wiping out every mammal on the planet with a Y chromosome. But all hope is not yet lost and there may be an opportunity to figure out what caused the apparent extinction of males with Yorick Brown and his pet Capuchin monkey, Ampersand. Yorick and Ampersand are the only males who survived the sudden and unexplained global androcide. The series revolves around them as they traverse the new world, as well as the other survivors who struggle to rebuild what was lost and establish a new world despite threats of complete extinction.
Who stars in Y: The Last Man?
Y: The Last Man stars Ben Schnetzer (Happy Town, The Truth About the Harry Quebert Affair) as Yorick Brown and Diane Lane (Unfaithful, Man of Steel) as Jennifer Brown, Yorick’s mother and a U.S. senator who is elevated to President. They are joined by Olivia Thirlby (Juno, The Darkest Hour) as Hero Brown, Ashley Romans as Agent 355, Amber Tamblyn (Joan of Arcadia, House) as Kimberly Cunningham, and Marin Ireland (Sneaky Pete, The Umbrella Academy) as Nora Brady.
